Howell Woltz had a fabulous father with a very strong honor code. Like father, like son. Except that, for the son, there was a very unexpected consequence.

He worked within the banking system. As part of his work, he needed to ensure that funds had a chain of custody. One day, there were funds - from someone he considered a friend - without that chain of custody. He sent the person 3 warnings, saying that he was required to report this, so please supply the chain of custody. He let the person know when he would be reporting.

His life turned upside down. Instead of a friendly meeting with law enforcement, giving them the papers, he was thrown into prison. In the United States. For 7 years and 3 months, he was pulled from prison to prison.
