SO MANY PUZZLING THINGS,
LIKE WHY DID MOVEMENTS
LIKE THE FRENCH REVOLUTION
GO SO TERRIBLY BAD?

This have always been two main sides of me - the creative and the truth seeker. I've also always cared to reach people.

First: the truth seeker side.

At about 12, I learned about the French and Russian Revolutions. They sounded so good. Liberty, equality, fraternity. It didn't end that way .Horror after horrow. How was that possible? There were answers I couldn't find.

I've spent a lot of time puzzling about, and exploring, what is going on - never more so than during the past 3 years. The more I learn, the more I know some very terrible things are happening, have long been planned (which means there are very nasty planners around), and are being carried out.

I don't know anyone who has found easy answers to turn things around.

My sense: we need both:
- outer changes that enable human flourishing - like medicine that encourages health, education that encourages thinking and knowing, legal systems that are for truth and justice;
- and inner changes - like to clear old and current inner messes, such as hate, rage, a sense of powerlessness, a sense of being unloved and uncared for - and to build ever more inner strengths, like the capacity to perceive, like courage and integrity, like compassion and passion. self-appreciation and self-love as well as appreciation and love of others.

Now, for he side of me that cares to reach people.

I think back to childhood. I wanted to be a hero - but even then, I didn't want to do what my favorite heroes did. Cowboy rescuing a wagon train. First woman doctor. Nurse on the battle field, helping wounded soldiers.

So how to be a "hero" - someone who answers the call? That's been a big question all my life. One big way has been through teaching.

Right now, for me, doing the Truth Summit is a main way of answering the call. Interviewing amazing truth tellers - caring, involved, intelligent, thoughtful - with a passion to change for the better the current dangerous course of events.

There is no one fixed answer. It's an ongoing thing.
